ABOUT

Spill Projects, growing from its former identity as Silver Leaf Art Box in Merricks, seeks to engage a range of places and spaces as sites of possibility for poetic experiences, co-creation and connection.

Spanning visual art, performance, sound and text, Spill Projects values ongoing relationships with artists, partners, places and people, centering collaborative place-specific art making and ecological thinking.

Penelope Gebhardt, founder of Spill Projects, is an independent curator and gallerist living on Bunurong and Boon Wurrung country. She has worked across artist-led and commercial gallery settings and public art contexts, and was co-founder and curator of Silver Leaf Art Box (2016-2023).

Spill Projects is located on the beautiful ancestral lands of the Bunurong and Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge their continuing care for country and recognise that First People’s art and culture has been flourishing here for millennia. We pay our respect to Elders past, present and future, and to all First People. Sovereignty was never ceded.
