Cameron Robbins
Cameron Robbins' practice encompasses drawings, photographs, sculptures, and mark-making instruments that interpret Earth’s natural energies: sunlight, magnetic, wind and water. The works are often created with multiple simultaneous inputs, an intrinsic element being the weather. This modality tethers Robbins’ work to the crisis of our time: global warming and the energy revolution. Precise, playful and poetic, the works invite curiosity, contemplation and connection to Earth and the cosmos.
Robbins has undertaken major site responsive commissions and exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including a large-scale solo exhibition at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in 2016. In 2021 Robbins exhibited in The National – a biennial survey of contemporary art at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Sydney, and had a major work installed at the MCA as part of the Lotti Smorgan Sculpture Terrace Commission series (2020/21). Recently, Robbins had a permanent wind-powered drawing instrument installed at Bundanon.
