Western Port is located approx. 60 km south east of Melbourne on Bunruong and Boon Wurrung country. Since 2018 the Western Port community has been working hard to stop AGL’s proposed gas import terminal which, if approved, would have devastating impacts. Western Port is a significant cultural site for the Traditional Custodians and is uniquely rich and diverse. It is listed as a wetland of international importance under the ‘Ramsar Convention on Wetlands’. It is home to a multitude of sea life and local and migratory birds including the critically endangered eastern curlew and curlew sandpiper. Furthermore, its tidal waters are home to crucial carbon sequestering mangroves and seagrass meadows.

This exhibition presents a unique opportunity to take collective action for the health and longevity of Westernport. You can join our efforts by sharing a post, telling a friend, making a donation or acquiring an artwork to help reach the fundraising target of 100K by November.

Together we can do this!

Update:
We raised $87K! A massive heartfelt thank you to the artists and everyone who rallied for Westernport.
On 30 March 2021 the Environment Minister Richard Wynn and the Labor government blocked AGL’s gas import proposal for Western Port. Thank you and congratulations to all the thousands of individuals, groups and organisations who took sustained and passionate action. Special thanks to Save Westernport, the Bunurong Land Council, Environment Victoria, Victoria National Parks Association and the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
